Moving a 6.61 Database

We are running ArcServe 6.61 SP2 on Windows NT4 and I would like to move the ArcServe Database from one drive to the other. Could someone let me know if this can easily be done and if so, which is the best way. Also, are there any advantages in storing the DB in a different format other than the standard ArcServe way ?

The safest way is to backup your database by stopping the database engine and copying the database folder to a temp location. Re-install arcserve to a new location, copy the database folder from the temp location over the newly created database folder (BEFORE starting arcserve for the first time), and re-apply the service patches.

Alternatively, you could just stop the DB engine, move the DB folder to the new location. Edit the registry and get to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/COMPUTERASSOCIATES/ARCSERVEIT/
BASE/PATH and change the path of the database value to reflect the new location. Re-start the DB engine and cross you fingers as it doesnt always work!

Many thanks for the prompt reply. I tried the registry option but ArcServe is still looking at the original place for the DB.... Is there definitely not an easier way rather than having to re-install the whole application ?

This is not recommended.
Now that you have started to work on it.. you might as well give this a shot too.

after making the registry change...
open the Environmnet variables on you r server...

look for "catpath" and "connpath" change the path to the new location of the database...

now...after doing this... the DB engine might be greyed out...
if not you might get error 4104 ec=-2005.

try ur luck...

Unfortunately, this didn't work either.... I am really not keen on re-installing it as it has been flaky at the best of times...
Any more ideas people ??
