movieclip mask making text invisible

Hi,

I have a movie clip which has a dynamic mask applied to it to provide a scroll effect.

The mask is generated with the 'create blank movieclip' method.

So the mask is a movie clip over a movie clip.

I hunted for invisible text last night and found this link

which implies it's to do with the mask being on a layer, but from what I can gather from reading the AS, it's not it's on a new blank movie clip.

Also many other links I found all imply it's an issue with dynamic text and the font needs to be embeded, but the underlying text is not dynamic, it's static normal text which has been used in a movieclip to create animated rollover/out effects.

So why is the text missing when that part of the page comes into view from the masked clip?

If you hover over where the text is supose to be, the animation then plays and the text becomes visible?

I've been following some of your threads here and may I just say that commercial templates are usually very poorly coded never easily edited as the vendors would like you to believe, and IMHO, probably not the best way to get back into Flash coding.

I've helped a lot of users here with such templates, and could possibly help you out, but you'll need to provide me with your original set of your template's files, the .fla in a no higher format than CS3, not CS4 or CS5.

If you don't have some webspace of your's to upload them, you can use a file sharing site as

http://www.rapidshare.com,

to upload a zip package and then provide the link here to download it from.

Alternately if the package is less than 10MBs you can mail it to me. You'll find an address if you hit my handle above this post.

Well so far all the templates I've bought from this vendor I have been thouroughly pleased with.

All had just been the PSD files as I am not a graphic designer but can code, so as long as I had the design source files, writing W3C standards compliant X/HTML 1.0 Strict code was not a problem.

Until now I'd never even seen flash or had the software nor bought a tempalte in flash so cannot make a judgement as to its quality.

I'm having enough trouble getting my head round it all, though I am making progress.

However if you are asking me to provide the compelte source file which I have paid for then this is not something I am prepared to do.

Above anything else that would a breach of the terms under which I purchased the use of the template.

So I'm sure you can appreciate my situation.

However if there is some way I am able to export just the relevant components or open a blank FLA file and import them, then I'm happy to do that, of course as long as you are still happy to help.

As I'm a total noob with flash, if you could explain how I select the specific elements for export to a separate FLA file, i'll upload it to my webspace.

I precisely didn't answer your thread until today because I expected that kind of reaction at my request for the files...

I didn't say the templates weren't appealing to some and I've appreciated watching some of them myself... Again I only said that they were usually poorly coded and certainly not as easy to edit as the vendors would pretend...
Just ask any of them how much they would charge you to update them themselves... 4, 5, as much as 10 times more than the price of the template itself. Their interest is to sell the damn things, not service them...
Contact forms within those templates are for example never coded, although on preview they would seem to work...

I haven't even seen this template and don't know how it was coded although they're all coded the same basically, and I don't know what are the changes you require or how you're going about doing that...

If you change your mind, you know where to mail me the stuff... At least you wouldn't be publicly posting it...

hmm very odd, you're saying either I send you my entire source files otherwise you won't provide any help.
