Movie Menu into buttons

I recently acquired an old boxedart template for a flash site and the only thing I'm using is the menu system.

I've imported the menu into the library and placed in on the stage etc but when I went in to add some action script for each down action for the mouse i found that the menu was not made up of buttons with 4 keyframes like usual but the "buttons" were actually movies... I can change the text but I can't change the buttons so I can add actionscript to tell the movie where to go to on the click...

can anybody help me out with this?

I have a small screenie of what I'm talking about but apparently you can't upload them on this board...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I have put the menu arrangement in the library of thtis fla file..... if you go in an edit them you'll see what I'm talking about.
