Movie clips and buttons , pleease help

Hello, I need urgent help. so THANXS in advance.
I have a movie clip (M1)containing a string of pictures moving horizontally. Its placed on the main stage. I need a button on top of this string that on roll over, stops its movement. At the same time, on release I need this button to play a movie clip (M2) situated somewhere else on the stage.
Question1: this second movie clip (M2), where has to be situated? on the main stage or inside the movie clip "M1"?
Question2: The button must be inside movie clip M1 or on the main stage?
Question3. wich command makes button, on release, to play a different movie clip?
Im confused and worried cause I need to finish this now...snif

Either place... just need to navigate to it correctly

probably inside the m1 would be better but also could be either
