I have Windows 2000 Server running on a rather old machine that I would like to replace. Is there any way to move all of the settings to the new OS allowing this change to happen transparent to the users. If I install the new box will the users desktop profile change? Anyway to save it if it does?

Back up your whole server first. This is what I do with some workstations pull out the hard drive. Put it in a new machine, start up the machine put a server CD in let it boot to CD and run the fix windows option. When that finishes you should be good to go. I did this on few workstations and 2-3 servers worked for me. If you looking to move everything to a bigger hard drive you can try to back up system state and evrything else and restore to your new machine.
