Hi all

I would like to move\migrate a VM guest which users disk space on a SAN to another VM which has local disk storage. How do I go about this with Virtual Centre?
I assume I use Clone or Migrate but not sure which, so any help would be much appreciated. Does the wizard in one of these options help you to set up the new storage.
We have ESX Server and Virtual Centre and a number of VM on Blades.

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

at the moment is there a raw access to a LUN in your SAN from the VM or does only the virtual disk exist in the SAN LUN?

That is a good question... I wanna to know how to perform a vmotion copy on VMWARE.

Someone has told me that works very well , without any impact.

Pelson2003, you may want to start another thread as you are hijacking this post...

Hi all

Thanks for your responses. As I had very little local drive space on the ESX server I had no other option but to build another server with more disk space from scatch.
To answer Pelson question - yes Vmotion works very well - best software I have seen in years, but it did not work for me as I had no ESX servers with enough disk storage available.

Thanks

Dave
