Greetings, I'm new to Avaya but not telephony in general.

I need to move an established user from a defective phone onto a new one. The new one is plugged in, and I can see it in the User section of Office Manager, it's currently on a different extension.

Is it as easy as right clicking on the current User/extension, selecting Copy, and then pasting onto the new one?

I'm doing this remotely so I don't want to be experimenting on their production phone system :)

no.
assuming this is digital, just renumber the physical port that the new phone is plugged into to the same number that you want for the user, and reboot the system - that is typically the easiest solution.

Or get them to log in to that new phone with there extension and password.

Only downfall is when then system is rebooted it reverts to the default extension

Log in *35 extension no # password #
Log out. *36

This would lead me to believe that it is an IP phone. You need to go into the Craft menu and log out the phone from there. That will erase the extension number and bring you to the login prompt, where you will enter the extension number and either the Login code or Extension password, depending on your IP Office's release.
