I am moving mailboxes from an Exchange 2000 server to an new Exchange 2003 server. The moves always complete without errors or issues. And since both servers are up and running, when the move completes, the Outlook clients are automatically redirected to the other server. But here is when my issue starts. The Outlook clients cannot open their mailbox for a while after the mailboxes are moved. If I go into their Outlook settings it shows the NEW exchange server in the connection, but it still won't connect. If I move mailboxes overnight, there is never an issue, they come in and open their Outlook first thing in the morning and voila, everything works great and they are none the wiser. This happens with both Outlook 2000 and 2003.
Is there some sort of replication that needs to be happening before they can get to their mailbox after a move? If so, is there a way I can force it to happen to avoid this delay? Any help is appreciated.
