Move GW6 to new server

I want to move my existing GW6 to a new server. It consists of an MTA, Webaccess, Webserver and GWIA. The old server is going to be removed from the tree.

Is it possible to backup this server, remove it from the tree, then install the new server with the same name and IP and restore the Novell files to the new server?

I'm looking for the best/simplest way to do this. Would NDS have a problem with that solution?

Thanks

The most simple way of doing this would be to use the NetWare Migration Wizard version 6. Unlike previous versions, you do not have to actually be upgrading the NOS. You can go from 5.1 to 5.1 or 6.0 to 6.0, BUT, if you are on NW4.x, you are not given this feature, you would have to be upgrading the OS if the source server is on 4.x.

Doing it this way will move all files to the new server and then do a brain transplant from source to destination server. So when all is said and done, the new server will be exactly like the old server, only the hardware will be different.

Once the migration is done, just copy the GWMTA and GWPOA modules to the SYSTEM directory along with the config files. Since WebAccess and GWIA do not actualy hold any user data, just reinstall those products like you were installing a service pack.

This method will be virtually seamless to the end users and the mail system.
