I have Goldmine 5 installed on a Win2k server, and need to move it to a new Win2k3 server. I see documentation on how to move it, but it assumes the server name is going to be the same. What do I need to do to move to a new server with a new name? TIA
Is it GoldMine or is it GoldMine Sales & Marketing (GoldMine Enterprise, can't remeber when they changed the name, it is noow GoldMine Corporate Edition )
Fastest way is to install a fresh copy on the new server and then copy over the entire installation from old server to the new. Then re-map the neteork drives on the workstations to the new server.
Seems easy enough, but I did this once a long time ago and I thought there were entries in some .ini or other config files that contain the server name or something else that was machine specific. I seem to remember having to do another procedure to get it to work.
I'll try the reinstall and copy and let you know how I do.
With the standard edition as if you are using Mapped drives it shouldn't be a problem after you re-map the drives on each workstation. If you are using UNC then you will need to adjust your .ini settings yes.
Ooops, got an issue: I installed GM5 on the new server. I copied the whole directory tree from the old to the new server, and changed all .ini files to reflect the new server name (I'm using UNC names). When I login and open the database, it looks like all records are blank except for 1 in every 8 or 10. The DB is showing the correct NUMBER of records, they're just not displaying when you scroll through them. Tried reindexing, no change.
