I would like to be able to copy database, web site etc.. from my server to my laptop. Currently I have the following setup:

Server:
MS SQL 7.0
IIS 4
ASP
And all the files required for the web site.

The asp make intensive use of the SQL database that use stored procedures.

Laptop:
Dell 8100 - Window 2000 (not the server version)

Does somebody could tell me if it is possible for me to migrate the setup from the server to the Laptop. I believe I will need some software and setup for II5.

Where Can I find a version of SQL that I could use on the laptop?

The purpose is to have a working copy of the site to show demo of it.

Any info would be appreciated, but I also would like to find somebody leaving in the NYC area that could take care of the setup.

In case you can contact me at lb@lbconsulting.com

Thanks in advance.

Louis

Hi,

Just copy the ASP (and other website) files to the new machine.

You can copy the databases by backingup and restoring them on the other PC.

You can use a SQL script to generate backup files of the database(s).

Look at the micro$oft site to find a example or something about the 'T-SQL BACKUP RESTORE' script syntax.

If you need any other info, let me now...
(Just post here.)

best regards,

Arthur

Hi Louis,

What kind of OS do you have on your laptop?
If you can't install the SQL 7 Server installtion, try to install the SQL 7 Desktop edition.

Best regards,

Arthur
