Alberta is moving to 10 digit dialling - the deadline is September 1. Our site is in northern Canada, outside of Alberta. But we have FX lines that allow our users to dial "8", get another dial tone and dial 7 digits as if they are making a local call in Edmonton (Area Code 780). Now I have to find out what changes to make before the deadline. I have nosed around in the "Automatic Route Selection Assignment" form; "Route Assignment" form and "Digit Modification Assignment" form. It all looks vaguely familiar and somewhat confusing. I am attaching some screen shots, which may give a starting point. I can gather more information, I am just not sure what to look for or where. Any help greatly appreciated.

Very easy change.

Go to the Automatic Route Selection Assignment form. The LD entries do not need to be changed. The local dialing will need to be changed though. You will need to put in two new entries. In the 'Digits Dialed' column, you will need to put in an entry for 780 and one for the new area code 587. In the 'number of digits to follow' column, put in a 7. Make both of these entries go to route 7 like the other local dialing entries.

780 7 route 7
587 7 route 7

After I was done that, I would delete the old local dialing entries. This will force your users to dial all 10 digits.

Make sure you check the dial 9 list as well for the local users in your nothern site. Do the exact same thing there.
