Hello All,

I need to move an extention from one building to the next. I did this a few years ago but can not remember exactly how to do it. Can some one show me how to do it step by step. I am using WinSPM 9 on a Merlin Magix 3.0 system. I know it has something to do with non local udp and local but thats all I can really remember. I was never great at navigating through WinSPM.

Thanks!

Is there a properly protected feeder cable between the 2 buildings?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

First you must remove the local extension from your dial plan.

Then you must add it to your UDP.

For instance, your local site has extensions 100-199.
Your remote site has 200-299

You want to move 150 to the remote site.

Renumber 150 to something else. It could be something else in the 100 series, or its original 7100 number.

Then add another entry in the UDP tables, 150-150, using the same route and digits that your existing route uses.

Print your UDP, and the routing will become apparent.

Yes, there is a dedicated line that connects the 2 buildings.

How do I remove the local extension from the dial plan? How can I print the UDP list?

Thanks for your reponses. I'm trying to finally get this done.

When you spoke of UDP in your original message, I made the leap that you have two Magix systems connected by a point to point T1. If that is NOT the case, and you have cable between the two buildings, no programming is necessary, just rejumper the station to the feed cable and to the jack at the far end.

If you are dealing with two Magixes, in WinSPM, start by printing your dial plan, an extension list, and your Non-local dial plan, which are all in the Print menu - Menu > System Program > Start > More > Print

Ok, I printed all reports. And yes we do have a T1 line that connects the 2 Magix boxes.

Where do I go from here? This is where I always get stuck.

You probably get stuck cause you just don't listen. How about printing and posting what was asked? grrr.

OK, here's an example with one of my sites.

Let's say I want to move Ext. 120 from Site A to Site B.

Renumber 120 to "something else" that is not being used in the current dial plan, let's pick 180.

System Renumber, Single, Extension, 120, Enter, 180, Enter.

Now look at the UDP for Site A:

Code:
A NON-LOCAL DIALPLAN

A Range Ptn Dgt Range Ptn Dgt Range Ptn Dgt
A 1) 135- 135 01 03 18) - 35) -
A 2) 184- 184 01 03 19) - 36) -
A 3) 300- 313 01 03 20) - 37) -
A 4) 315- 330 01 03 21) - 38) -
A 5) 332- 369 01 03 22) - 39) -
A 6) 371- 399 01 03 23) - 40) -
A 7) 444- 444 04 03 24) - 41) -
A 8) 698- 698 03 03 25) - 42) -
A 9) - 26) - 43) -
A 10) - 27) - 44) -
A 11) - 28) - 45) -
A 12) - 29) - 46) -
A 13) - 30) - 47) -
A 14) - 31) - 48) -
A 15) - 32) - 49) -
A 16) - 33) - 50) -
A 17) - 34) -

A Pattern 1:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 00 -------------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

A Pattern 2:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 03 770----------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

A Pattern 3:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 03 370----------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

A Pattern 4:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 03 889----------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

So, make a new UDP route, 120-120, 3 digits, using pattern 1 like the rest.

System Renumber, NonLocal UDP, 120 Enter (Starting Range), 120, Enter (Ending Range), 3, Enter (Number of Digits), 1, Enter (Pattern)

Now at Site B:
Code:
A NON-LOCAL DIALPLAN

A Range Ptn Dgt Range Ptn Dgt Range Ptn Dgt
A 1) 100- 129 01 03 18) - 35) -
A 2) 130- 130 01 03 19) - 36) -
A 3) 131- 134 01 03 20) - 37) -
A 4) 136- 183 01 03 21) - 38) -
A 5) 185- 299 01 03 22) - 39) -
A 6) 314- 314 01 03 23) - 40) -
A 7) 331- 331 01 03 24) - 41) -
A 8) 444- 444 04 03 25) - 42) -
A 9) 699- 699 03 03 26) - 43) -
A 10) - 27) - 44) -
A 11) - 28) - 45) -
A 12) - 29) - 46) -
A 13) - 30) - 47) -
A 14) - 31) - 48) -
A 15) - 32) - 49) -
A 16) - 33) - 50) -
A 17) - 34) -

A Pattern 1:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 00 -------------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

A Pattern 3:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 03 770----------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

A Pattern 4:

A Pool Absorb Other Digits FRL Call type
A 1)891- 03 889----------------- 3 BOTH
A 2)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 3)---- -- -------------------- - -----
A 4)---- -- -------------------- - -----

You would DELETE the range of 100-129, and make two NEW ranges, 100-119, and 121-129.

System Renumber, NonLocal UDP, 100, Enter (Starting Range), DelRange, 100, Enter (Starting Range), 119, Enter (Ending Range), 3, Enter, (Number of Digits), 1, Enter, (Pattern), 121, Enter (Starting Range), 129, Enter (Ending Range), 3, Enter (Number of Digits), 1, Enter (Pattern)

Finally, now that 120 is no longer in the UDP Range at Site B, you can renumber a physical extension to 120.

Thank you so much TouchTone Tommy. Got it done with no problem.

TTT - adding my thanks. I had a customer who thought it would be a really good idea to decide yesterday to move a networked switch tomorrow - I couldn't remember where to change the range to change a switch b number to a phantom on a - this was perfect!!
