Hello,

I need to move an extension from one location to another. Extension 1210 needs to go where extension 1203 currently is. How do I do this in WinSPM? Thank you for your help.

First renumber 1210 to "something else", then renumber 1203 to 1210, then renumber "something else" to 1203.

(continue from "Extension" for the next step)

What is "something else"? It's an extension number that is not being used elsewhere to be a "placeholder" so you can swap the extension numbers. In your case, without looking at a printout of your dial plan, I would guess that you're in set up space, because of the 4-digit extension numbers, and not using the default numbers starting at 7100, so try using 7100 as the placeholder.

Also be aware that all of the programming on the extensions is on the physical port, not on the extension numbers. If one extension had voice mail and the other didn't, you need to add/remove the extensions from the cover group. You may need to reprogram buttons, other sets that had coverage for those extensions, and anyone that has Inside Auto Dial buttons will need to change also. You may want to print out each extension before renumbering them. If this is not a remote site, it may be better to find out which ports the extensions are through the maintaince screens, and swap connecting cords or jumpers.
