Hello,
I have started with a new company and am inheiriting a Definity phone system with a Merlin Magix hanging off of it via point-to-point T1 Tie. I need to move an extension from the Definity to the location with the Magix. I can see that on the Definity side, when users have switched offices, they are using a UDP to send the calls to the Trunk that connects to the Magix. What I cant figure out how to do is associate the extension on the Magix and then the phone at this users desk. The operator console is a 4424LD+ and going through SysProgram menu, I have not been able to figure this out. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get this extension registered on the Magix? Thank you much.

Same game on the Magix side...UDP. Print out a Non-Local UDP report and you'll see how the Magix is to route the extension in question. Ultimately what you want to do is remove that specific extension from the range, which means breaking your range into two parts.

Let's say the extension to be "moved" to the Magix is 340. Let's also say that your Magix Non-Local dialplan reads:

1) 330-350 1 3 (Range, Pattern, Digits).

But now we don't want 340 to be Non-Local. When removed, the report should look like this instead:

1) 330-339 1 3
2) 341-350 1 3

To do that, go to System Renumber and hit Next Page until you get to Non-Lcl UDP. You'll be asked about the range, start and stop points and/or whether you want to delete the range. If you can figure out the Definity, you'll have no problem renumbering the UDP range on the Magix. But post back if I'm mistaken and I'll take you through the steps.

Next, you'll have to find an existing/unused extension and renumber it to 340. That's also done with System Renumber--only you want to select Extensions from the submenu. You'll be asked for an existing extension number, which you'll dial in, then the new extension number, which you'll put as 340.

For cleanliness, you'll want to issue a "rem sta 340" command on the Definity side. That way there will only be one true x340 in the network.
