Move DID to another phone terminal Nortel PBX

Once upon a time, I paired existing extensions to have common ending DID's that would match the last three digits of the extension. But when I ran out of common DID's and extensions, I had to pair extensions with uncommon DID's. For example, extension# 305 is assigned with a DID assignment (XXX)XXX-X253. For some reason when I call this DID, it rings extension# 253 and not extension# 305. Any thoughts why this happens? My next issue is I need an explanation on how to move this DID line (line# 163) and have it ring at another extension (ext.# 240). For example, extension# 240 has an existing DID already.... so I need extension# 240 to ring with 2 DID assignments.

I went into the menu system and unassigned the line assignment on extension# 305. I then went to extension# 240 and tried to assign line# 163 to Appear and Ring, but it was set to PVT>305. How can I do this?

Go to terminals & Sets.
Show the set in question, go to Line Access and assign the Target lines in questions.

As for private lines if you dont need them to be private (1 set only) then go to Lines (right after Terms&Sets), show the Target line in question and change it from Private to Public.

When you refer to the "Target lines in question", are you referring to the DID assigned to ext.#305? Facts are, I no longer will need this extension and just need to program the DID assigned to ext# 305 and move it too ext# 240.

Can you provide more detail on how to set the line to Public. I am not quite sure where to go in the menu system to do this.

DID is a Direct Inward Dial numbers from the Carrier
Target Lines are what point DID's to DN's

Sorry I cant give any more detail then I just did above because there simply isn't any, best to read the manual or call a tech perhaps.
