I have an opt 61C set up as follows...

AML 0 is on MSDL card DNUM 6, port 0. Ports 1-3 are unused.
AML 0 is assigned to VSID 0.
DCH 1 & DCH 2 are on MSDL card DNUM 7, ports 2 & 3. Ports 0 & 1 are unused.

What would be the easiest way to move the AML to DNUM 7, port 0? Can I just create a new AML on DNUM 7, port 0, assign the new AML to VSID 0 and move the cable?

I think creating a new aml and assigning it to VSID 0 is the best plan. Be sure you switch settings on the port of the MSDL card are set the same as port 0 is now.

If you can not assign your new aml to VSID 0 create a new VSID and change the VSID assignment for the mermail ACDN.

Thanks. I've recently heard that the AML, if used for MerMail, has to be on its own MSDL (as it currently is). Do you know if this is true?

No you can use any port on the MSDL. And the other ports can be used for D-channels or HSL or what ever - however, a tty can only be setup on port 0

Thank you again. Do I have to disable MMail, or can I just swap the AML cable and tell my alarm monitoring center to ignore the alarms.

Just disable the aml link and the MSDL card - LD 48
DIS AML xx
DIS MSDL xx

Then after you have made your changes, checked the dip switches, and moved your cable - enable the MSDL and then the aml
