I have an old DB2 7.1 database. I would like to move the DMS tablespaces from there current disk to new larger faster drives.

To start with, I am going to move the Index tablespaces.

Is there a way to move the tablespaces without having to drop and recreate?

Thanks...

Check the db2relocatedb command.

Steps in brief:
a) Make a note of the dbname, original container names and the new container names and create a config file
b) Stop the database.
c) Copy the DMS files to the new location
d) Run the db2relocatedb command.
e) Start the database

It's quiet a while back I had to use this command. So, use the manual to ensure that I haven't missed out any step.

All tablespace container info is held in a file called SQLSPCS.x in the database directory. What essentially happens here is that db2relocatedb command modified the above said file.
