Mouse scrolling issue in Outlook 2000

I have installed the latest drivers for a Microsoft intelli explorer wheel mouse but still cannot get a scroll bar working with the wheel in Outlook 2000. The scroll bar in question is when you click on the To button when composing a new message, for us our Global Address List appears which is very long. The scroll bar in this window doesn't want to respond even when all other scroll bars work. I have reinstalled the mouse and drivers but still no joy.

Please help!!!

Hi,
I think that the scroll wheel never works in situations like this. It has never worked on and address book lookup I have ever used. I dont think the fram that displays the addressbook is set up for the scrool wheel to work with it....my knowledge is very limited on programming so I cant explain it properly.

Thanks Kippy for the response.

The reason I am persuing this problem is because I have seen it work on the user's old pc 2 weeks ago.

Okay,
Was the version of outlook the exact same as yours? Was the mouse the exact same-I have seen on news groups where the Logitech mouse works in the Address book.....

Thanks for your responses.

The only thing different between the two pcs is that one was running Outlook 97 and the new one Outlook 2000. I have tried the microsoft fix but this hasn't worked.

Bcaster I have found the IE scroll bars work fine it is just the one address book scroll thats the problem.

Then perhaps the problem is by design-as stated in the microsoft KB article. Perhaps is works fine on Outlook 97....
just clutching at straws here.....
Have you tried contactin MS directly to get a definitive answer?

I will have to bite the bullet on this one and I may install Office 97 and Outlook 98 as before.

Is it really that much of an inconvenience?
Its only a very small thing and outlook 2000 offers other things not found in 97......it seems a bit a strange to downgrade just for that.

Tell me about it....Well if it was my own system then no but for the MD it is. Like I said because he has seen it work on his old laptop he wants it to work on the new one.

I have tried Outlook 98 on a test machine and guess what that doesn't work either. I think he might have to live with it.

Just send him the link to the MS KB article that says its by design and not meant to be changed. I know what you mean though I deal with people like this all the time.
