Mouse problems in X windows

Hi,
I'm running FreeBSD 4.9 on a intel 845GLLY board with a ps/2 mouse. After configuring the xf86config and launching x windows the mouse is stuck on the right hand side of the screen and every movement of the mouse acts like a hitting enter. Does anyone know what I can do to correct this problem?

Try using mouse protocol IMPS/2 instead.
