Mouse problems in Mandrake 8

During installation, I set up a USB mouse that was working during the installation. Then when I rebooted after the install, the mouse doesn't work. This is on a laptop, that also has a touch, which I didn't set up. How do I reconfigure the mouse(s) to work? I gues I really don't care which one I get work, but I would prefer both if possible. Can this be done and how?

Make sure to provide pretty descent steps, I am still quite new to linux.
