Hi All.

I have a Toshiba Satelite Pro 6100. My mouse is a stick mouse and i can move it about but for some reason, i can't use any of he buttons to click or tap the pointer to click. Its a freshly resetted laptop and i have just reformatted and installed xp onto it. It wasnt working before it as well. Can anyone help. Any advise from people who have experienced this or any software that can rectify this.

Thanks

Hi.
Yes i have but i need to also get the keyboard driver because i think that the two are conflicting and i need the proper drivers to get them working. its a sp6100 with xp and i little pimple mouse stick on the keyboard. it is an accupoint mouse and i think that the keyboard is by logitech. is there any place where i can find the correct drivers for them i.e. scan hardware or good website.

thanks

Logitech has a web site, and certainly do upgrade the keyboard drivers.

It is, however, fairly common for the track-point to continue to work and the buttons to be disabled.

If you went to a USB keyboard it would help the contention over the PS/2 port.

Hi.

I just fixed the mouse problem the other day.

i opened up the keyboard from the top, pulled it out and saw a flat internal wire thingy was disconnected comming from under the clicking buttons for the mouse. so i just reconnected it and voila it worked. but now i have another problem. Here is a copy of the post which i have just posted today. enjoy.

Hi everyone. First of all, Happy New Year.

I have a Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 with windows XP pro. What happened is that while the laptop was on, my mum put the laptop under the pillow to hide it from some "potential burglars" (LOSER!!!). The battery got wasted and the laptop must have hot overheated because there was no ventilation for the hot air from the processor fan to escape.

Now what happens is the laptop sometimes doesn’t turn on, without me taking out the charger and then the battery and then I have to reconnect the charger before the battery and then try to switch it on and it doesn’t always work first time. And when the laptop does turn on after 20 minutes!! I get an error message saying "Bad rtc battery" or something like that and "bad cmos checksum". I opened the laptop up and disconnected the battery for a couple of hours and tried to clear any dust that could have been blocking the fan. Also sometimes I found that if I took out the hard drive, I could switch on the laptop, but sometimes the laptop wouldn’t switch on at all.

During operation, everything would work for a while, say about an hour and then without warning, the laptop would just crash and the screen would freeze (I also feel that if I jog the laptop, it would crash but I’m not completely sure). The Internet would be disconnected showing that the laptop is turned off and the screen doesn’t go off when I press the button that is pressed when the lid/screen is closed. So to switch it off, I have to hold the button for a couple of seconds and then the laptop doesn’t turn on again, to I have to do the battery thing and charger thing which doesn’t always work first time and I also found that the hard disk and the bottom of the laptop is extremely hot. The fan does work properly, but because I have never took notice of the fan before, I dot know if it is running at normal speed or f it is running as normally as it should.

Is there anyone who has experienced a similar problem, or if there is anyone out there who can help me by looking at the symptoms or anyone who is an expert in this field. I would be very grateful for any help or any advice.

Many thanks.
