Mouse pointer disappears over inbox and drafts

I have had a recurring problem for several weeks.
My company just migrated from cc:mail o Lotus Notes. After this users have been noticing their mouse pointers disappearing over the inbox and drafts selections on the left side of the screen in Notes R5. This is also occurring in Organizer 6.0- over selected items the mouse disappears. I have reinstalled Organizer and the problem seems to disappear for a awhile, at least while i'm around and then... it comes back.
I have reinstalled mice and video cards drivers to no avail. Recently, I changed the mice to scrolling mice and installed Microsoft's Intellipoint software. Once again, the problem disappears temporarily, but always returns.
Any thoughts?
I am running Win 98 SE. The mouse settings haven't changed in the Windows config either....
It is especially annoying for users who can't see where their pointer is located to actually select the item....
thanks for any help,
Autumn

You're not by any chance running on IBM 300's are you? A while back they had major problems with point device interfaces at the bus level, that would cause the mouse to just disappear (actually it was there, it just wasn't "on top", and therefore unable to select anything).

Thanks for the response.
We use Micron computers here. I wish there was an easy solution to this. I can't think of anything else to try. It must be related to the Notes install somehow.

Notes had had many issues with the mouse in different versions. In R4, you'd occasionally lose the mouse if you were using a power on password on the pc.
v5.0.5 has problems with the pointer location.
v5.0.8 has problems with mouse wheels, which is supposed to be fixed in 5.09.

Is it all your users or just some? What version of Client are they running? Was Organizer installed as part of SmartSuite or stand alone?

The problem is only occurring with several users....at least only several have noticied it. It seems to only occur on machines running Win98. We are running Notes 5.0.8 and organizer 6.0. I have both apps running on my 98 machine and can't seem to duplicate the problem. I have the same mouse, same mouse settings, same video card and like versions of Organizer and Notes. Organizer was installed as part of SmartSuite. I just can;t understand why the *fixes* would work for a short period of time, like several hours, and then resort back to the disappearing mouse again...
maybe it could be defaulting back to some template when the software is opened and closed?

Afraid I'm out of answers, but here's a few parting shots. Some of these ideas may help you isolate the problem.

You said only on pc's with win98. Are they all SE?

If everyone has the same hardware, you could try ghosting a machine that has the problem onto a machine thats working fine and see if the problem develops or never occurs again.

You could try the reinstall on a working machine and see if the problem develops.

Do the 'fixes' break after a reboot? Screensaver? relogin? relaunch of the apps? Are the apps running 'distributed' or locally? Do the 'broken' machines have another app installed that others don't? Does the problem occur when a certain app or combination of apps are launched?

Sorry, i couldn't help more.

thanks for your help....
the problem just surfaced on a win2k machine about 10 minutes ago....ugh.

thanks,
autumn

Try uninstalling Organizer. It has no features that I'm aware of that you won't get out of Notes Calendering.
