I had a ps2 style mouse that started acting up,so I descided to install a MS intellipoint. The software detected the old mouse and said it had to remove the old driver before installing the new driver. It went ahead and performed the new driver installation and said the computer had to reboot before completing the installation of the new mouse. This is where the install went sideways, whereas when the computer starts to reboot it gets to the pointt where I have to log on. I can't type anything on the keyboard nothing echoes back)I've tried a different known working keyboard with same results. I tried a new mouse same thing. I should also add that the led isn't coming on the mouse either. After about 20 seconds it said that a service has failed and to check the event viewer, but without a keyboard I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

Thanks RD

kippy13,
I'm running nt4ws/sp6, It's a ps2 ms optical mouse. I've tried the original mouse and different keyboard with the same results. I've searched the ms tech site for the same or similar problems, but I've not been able to find anything as yet. I'm to the point now where I'll run norton ghost and try the new mouse install again.

Thanks
