My speakers give a loud and clear "click" whenever I press any of the mouse buttons.

Now, I hear not one, not two, not three but several clicks especially when I click the START button on the desktop.
At first, I thought nothing of it or thought the mouse was defective.
Now I am beginning to think that this is some sort of virus or whatever.
I noticed that when I click on a URL (while browsing the net) i get re-directed to a different URL or IE just hangs.
How can I check what is causing these numerous clicks and what re-directs me to a page not of my choosing.

Many thanks in advance.

Just like the last thread about wupdater.exe.. you have some mal/spyware issues. Everyone has their favorite ways to get rid of this crap and I'm sure a few folks will post theirs.

Install the free version of Adaware, update it, reboot to safe mode and run it.

The clicks your hearing is an odd one could be popups opening or something of that sort.

You can disable the sound, it is the "Start Navigation" event in Windows "Sounds" settings that makes the click. Hearing multiple clicks is another program starting navigation (doing some hidden web browsing). Get a spyware remover and good luck.
