What are you trying to do ?

A blunt answer to your question is no.

Bill.

The tape is the sequencial hardware and we can't mount it like a FS.

Hello
Thanks for the reply

Why i need to do this . I do not have a 8mm tape drive on my machine . I only have 4 mm tape drive . I need to restore data from this. I do have a machine with 8 mm tape drive but do not have sufficient space in it. So i rhought os this although i knew this is not possible.
Can i restore data over NFS...........??? Will it slow down the machine ....??

Any Alternatives

DO Advice

Cheers

You can indeed use NFS...mount the directory to the system with the tape drive and run the restore to the NFS mounted directory.
