mounting disk

Hi ALL

one of our sysadmins has mounted a drive with "forcedirectio" on!! It was originally mounted with "nonforcedirectio". Does this have something to do with caching?

Does anyone know what it is?
Does anyone know what the syntax is for enable/disable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
