I am new to linux and really feel open source is going to be the way for all soon but I am kinda frustrated with linux mandrake server dolphin version I just installed.

Problem: I just installed my Linux OS and I wanted to install samba for so I can share files with my w2k network. For some reason after installation the cdrom is not able to read the disk for the samba files for installation.
I know it is mounted properly I believe because under the mcc it is detected.
Model: CDR-8345
Vendor: Hitachi
Bus IDE
Channel: secondary
New devfs devices: ide/host0/bus1/target/lun/cd
Old device file: /dev/hdc
media class: cdrom

What should I check from here and what give?....:0)

If you burned the CD's yourself, some of the files could be corrupt. If this is the case, you should be able to go to one of mandrakes mirror sites and download the samba packages. Red Hat is another distro that uses RPM's so that would be another source. As soon as I post this I know someone is going to give you the name of the website that everybody goes to keep their systems up to date but I can't for the life of me think what it is. Any way, I thought of it first so if that happens, be sure to give me all the glory.
