I am having a problem mounting music CDs with SUsE linux. I keep getting I/O errors. I have tried with the GNOME gui, on the command line using the default info from the fstab, and on the command line fully wualifying everything.

Data CD's mount with no problems.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks in advance. Adam Adam F

This could be a problem with your CD-ROM Drive itself. Try it on another cd-rom drive to check it out.
It could also be a problem with the CD itself. Have you tried using other CDs ?

Cheers.

The CD-ROM drive is ok for any data CD.
Any music CD gives an IO error.

Sorry, I meant to say that the CD-Rom drive itself cannot read any music CDs. Try using a different CD-Rom drive.
What model is it.

Cheers.

Under windoze the CD-Rom drive is fine for music CD's...

Not sure of the model, I'm afraid.... Will have to look at home.

If the mount is giving errors when the command is issued, then it could be that the mount cannot recognize the format the cd is written in. You may want to check if you have several drivers for the drive and filesystem format installed. You can also check out the site at SUSE for more info.

BTW, what software are you using to access the CD ?

Cheers.
