Hi all

I am mounting a re-writable CD on an IDE-cdwriter under SCO-Openserver 5.0.6. However, the system only mounts it as readonly. Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong? I am not using mount with the -r option. I can mount a stiffy as the same filesystem (/mnt) with the same problem not occuring. Is anyone has any suggestions they will be greatly appreciated.

It will never mount it as anything other than readonly.

But that's not the whole answer :)

First, you'll have to wait for 5.0.7 to be able to write to an IDE CDRW or DVDRAM (and that's not a guarantee- I have been TOLD that this will be OK in 5.0.7 but I don't know it for fact).

But even a SCSI cd would only mount readonly. To write to it, you need special software like cdrecord ( ) or some (perhaps all) of the Supertars ( ) can do backups to CD's and DVDRAM devices ( ). Mounting will ALWAYS treat it as a readonly device.
