Hey,

I have a new partition that has been created. I have a directory off root that I would want to use as a mount point how do I preserve the data in that directory once I designate it as a mount point?

/home is contained in root device holding user data
->
/home is a mount point for device /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6
->
/home is a mount point for device /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 containing user data

The data is still there if the other filesystem is not mounted. If you need to access the data while the mount is active you will have to unmount the mounted filesystem, move the data somewhere else and re-mount the other filesystem.
