why do we mount a slice?

Mostly the slices of filesystem types are mounted. But remote resource can also be mounted. Mount attaches a file system to the file system hierarchy at the mount_point, which is the pathname of a directory. If mount_point has any contents prior to the mount operation, these are hidden until the file system is unmounted.

We mount slice, to do file operation like creating directory, copying files, deleting files, NFS sharing etc. Without mounting we will not be able to access it or will not be able to use our normal commands like cd (change directory),pwd,cp,rm etc.
