Hi all,
I had installed the IBM DVD-RAM 7210, would anyone tell me how to mount the DVD /dev/cd1 into the filesystem so I can run the smit mksysb!

Tks

Hi,

You do not need to mount the DVD in order to run the mksysb command. When you execute smit mksysb this process mount the DVD automatically.

If you want to mount the DVD for something else you need to create a CDROM file System (smit crcdrfs) and then mount like another file system (mount filesystem_path).

Bye.

Thanks for your information!
I don't need to create a bootable DVD image (mksysb) in the DVD, all I want to do is : treat DVD-RAM as a harddisk and move the historical data into it or restore if necessary! I'm using AIX 4.3.3 and I can't find the crcdrfs command. Is it workable for the existing os version!
Please advise!
Thanks

Hi,

smit crcdrfs should work in AIX 4.3.3. If it does not work try this.

smit
system storage management
file systems
add/ change/show/delete file systems
cdrom file systems
add a cdrom file system.

bye.

You need mkisofs and a DVD writing programme. I have only written CDs.

Cheers
