Hello everyone!

***** Problem:
Want to access a Ten-X OCU-110S's disk information from Openserver 5.0.6. OS sees drive as /dev/dsk/1s0. However, when trying to mount, OS doesn't know the fs type. Have tried AFS, EAFS, HTFS, DTFS, DOS, HS, ISO9660, RCKRDG on it, no go. Tried running fstyp on it, it returns unknown fs type. I assume the drive is working correctly. Any hints?

***** Background:
I have some data on optical disks that work with a Panasonic 940 drive (LF-5010). In the original system, the Panasonic interfaces through a Ten-X OCU-110S unit, which supposedly makes the Panasonic run like a hard drive instead of a removable drive. Since its supposed to act like a hard drive, there are no drivers for it. The Ten-X is the one on the actual SCSI chain. It uses its own SCSI adapter to interface to the Panasonic optical drive. Internally, there is a HD, tape backup, and a CDROM on the SCSI chain. HD(ID:0), Tape(ID:2), CDROM(ID:4), Ten-X(ID:5)

Anyways, original HD will no longer boot (we think due to a power failure), and comes up now on boot with the error:

Not a directory.

boot not found
Cannot open
Stage 1 boot failure: error loading hd(40)/boot

Unfortunately, there were no rescue floppies or install media for Openserver 5.0.2 which is what was running.

However, I do have the install media for Openserver 5.0.6. My thinking was that since the Ten-X was supposed to act like a harddrive, simply getting another Openserver up and running would allow me to access the Ten-X. It did not (see back to problem statement above).

Questions I have besides the original problem stated above:
1) This was originally part of a proprietary optical system called Optiserv by Modern Computer Systems. This company has been bought out. Might it be possible that they had their own filesystem that they used?
2) I do have tape backups of the original OS. Would it be possible to use 5.0.6 to restore the 5.0.2 tape backups to another HD? If its possible, would it be advisible?

If I'm way off base with any of this, feel free to give me a talkin' to - I'd appreciate it. :) If I've left any detail out, I'd love to give it to you. I just feel long winded as it is.

Thank you for any help you could provide, and if you've read this far, the time you took to read this.
