HI ALL

I have just installed a 6 disc pack on a sun solaris box.

it is daisy chained of an existing six pack and terminated on the out scsi port on the pack.

i have donee a probe-scsi -all and boot -r. but on boot up i am receiving the following mesg

WARNING: /sbus@1f, 0,SUNW/fa5@e,8800000(fas0):

any clues???

At the ok prompt when you did a probe-scsi-all did all the disks show? If not insure the new disk pack has different
SCSI ID then the original disk pack drive IDs'.
Does the system complete a bootup?
Is the message repeated?

If you see all the disks at probe-scsi, the problem could be your cable lenght.
If you remove the new box , does the system boot, what if you leave the new box cabled in and just power the box off
does the sytem boot?

You can run the command drvconfig or devfsadm after boot up
to configure the new disks.

The system doen not complete a bootup the mesg is just repeated. auto-boot? is set too false, so no probs to get to the ok prompt.

if i remove or power off the new box the system boots fine. Also no issues with cable lengt as it is only approx. 30cm.

Turn the new box off and go to the ok prompt. (leave new box cabled and terminated.

1. probe-scsi-all (Record all the scsi id # seen on the bus that has the new disk enclosure.

2. Power off the old box and then power on the new box.

3. Record the scsi id from the new box.

4. Do you see scsi id that are the same between the two boxes?

5. The new box should have an id selector.

It appears the problem is duplicate scsi ids'.
