I am trying to mount a NAS share on a Linux server. I can ping the address and can get to the share from Windows so I know the NAS is setup properly and is accessible. The entry is correct in the fstab file because it is working on another server just fine. I can also ping the NAS from the machine that will not mount it. Error when trying to mount the share says the "could not resolve". Any ideas?

Are you trying to mount the NAS by a name or an IP address?

Setup the name of the NAS in the host file (/etc/host) in the following format: nasname ipaddress.

Check the NAS configuration to see of it is only allowing cetain IP's access, and if it is, add you machines address to the config.

Hope this helps!

What protocol are you trying to use to mount with?

smb?
nfs?
afp?

If you are trying to mount via smb try this to make sure you can communicate:
smbclient -L nasserver

If you are trying via nfs try this:
showmount -e nasserver
