hi,

I have two routers , one motorola (dce) and the other cisco2600(dte) connect back-to- back, using ppp encapsulation and the physical-layer is synchronous.

when I verify the cisco I find that the serial is up and the protocol is also up,(the same thing in motorola), but when I try to ping to the serial of each router I can't ping, what is the problem?

the configuiration in motorola :
the speed clock is 64000, ppp encapsulation, ip address 192.168.0.1, no authentication is set.

in ciscinterface Serial1/1
ip address 192.168.0.2.
encapsulation ppp.
physical-layer sync.
and no authentication is set

what's the prb?

Check to make sure the subnet masks match on each router. I would then check to see if the DTE & DCE (on the cable ends) match the configuration. DCE should have the clock rate set on it. Then try something simple as a no shutdown on the interfaces. If you already double checked everything, try configuring a routing protocol on each router and see what happens.

hi routerhead,

thank's for your reply, I had yet checked everything.

I tried to set static routes in each routers but without success.

the prb is that I can't ping from cisco his own serial either the serial is up and the protocol is up?

is it a problem of keepalive?

thank you
