Hey,

I have a Samsung MP0402H 2.5 inch HD.To make a long story short a friend of mine dropped it off his desk and now it apeaers to be motor dead. If i plug it into my PC the led light turns on, but the motor doesnt spin. If I put the HD to my ear I can hear the motor trying to turn, but it doesnt spin. I'm pretty sure its the motor but it may be the PCB board aswell. I was wondering if anyone has switched the motor on a 2.5inch HD. I know that if any dust gets on the disk it will corrupt so obviously its a delicate procedure. Any tips or ideas would be great as I ahve 40GB of non replacable data on it. Thanks in advanced!

Sorry, I can't resist stating the obvious - back up important data!

I think you need to ask yourself how valuable is this data to you? This one sounds like one for a specialist company. But it will cost!

If you try to fix the drive yourself, you may end up losing the data completely.
