Hi Guys,
I got my computer parts...installed everything...and the MSI K8N motherboard won't accept my PS/2 keyboard. I mean I can't even setup my BIOS. Apparently it's a major problem with this board (of course I find this out after I purchase the board).
From my research, I basically have two options. I can either buy a new USB keyboard and hope it works, or return this stupid board and buy an ASUS. Here the catch:
I've already installed the CPU and Heatsink (AMD64 with supplied thermal pad) and would need to transfer it to the new motherboard. Last night I removed the heatsink from the CPU to see if it came off. It did, but it left the residue on the heatsink and the CPU. I've done no major CPU crunching (can't even get into the BIO) with it so it hasn't fused together so to speak.
Is it okay to transfer the CPU and Heatsink on a new board at this time? Is the thermal pad still good now that I removed it?
Any help would be really appreciated. I have to go away today so I'll check this board later. Thanks for all your help.
