Updating KT6V-SR/ LSR (msi) motherboard to 2gb of ddr3200 400mhz memory but system fails, the board specification should allow this. Any ideas ?

Try only one stick of RAM and see what it does. Then try the other stick by itself. If that doesn't work, pull all RAM to verify mobo is still alive. It should complain with a beep code for "no RAM installed".

Or you could put the old RAM back in to verify mobo is alive.

Also, maybe try a CMOS reset using the jumper on the mobo.

Incompatible or non matched pair of ram.
Boards of this era could be very picky with module types and MSI will probably have a "tested" memory list for this motherboard in the downloadable pdf manual.
A newer bios flash can often improve compatibilty.

ah!
I had too low of a voltage to my ram. I have a motherboard that is very configureable for the ram so it was not an issue to up the voltage.
