Getting ready to buy either an epox, asus are abit mother running a 800 t-bird with 256 mb of ram. Been going crazy trying to decide which board to buy. Is there that much different in the dma 66 and the 100 thats my hold up right now.As after ready alot i think its really just a coin flip away. Someone please help me to decide before i go crazy as to which way to go a board that supports dma 66 are 100

KT7 gets the thumbs up from me too, but many tech guys I talk to swear by the ASUS or SOYO equivalent. I have a penchant for ABIT - the BIOS allows easy overclocking, but each to their own. There is a new board on the market that is making a lot of people sit up and take notice:

...and click on the link to the Epox motherboard review - it looks extremely tasty, with up 266 MHz FSB and the ability to o/c an Athlon TBird 1.2 another 200MHz.

may help you to make your mind up.

Go with ATA 100. It's not a coin flip; it's the difference between a potential 66Mb/sec data transfer rate and 100Mb/sec.

RAID is only necessary if you have spare cash and can afford to have a drive "doing nothing". In an enterprise server, I'd say RAID is vital. In a home PC, it's a nice luxury.

Good Luck!!
