Motherboard and processor upgrade.

If I were to change the motherboard and processor on my computer, would all the things I have loaded still be there, or would I have to start from scratch.
I have xp if it makes any difference.
 
XP will probably not like the change but that dosen't mean you might not get lucky. If it were me I would back up all my data and plan on reinstalling everything else. Talk to the XP forum for more info on moving HDs

Personally I would recommend a clean install after major surgery like this but under certain circumstances it is possible to change the mainboard and then, for XP to reconfigure with the new setup.
just before the final shutdown if you uninstall all references in device manager to mainboard hardware, then do your swop, chances are it will reconfigure with the new parts in place.
I believe if you do an article search on this site, this subject and definitive instructions and proceedure are available.
