Most popular Search Engines

My current understanding is that Google and Yahoo and perhaps MSN are probably the 3 most popular Search Engines in use today. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Does anyone know themselves or perhaps know of a resource where I can find out the approximate percentages of Search Engine usage.

For example:
Google 40%
Yahoo 30%
MSN 15%
Others 15%

Yep That's about it in that order. Finding the market share of each is almost an impossible task though. Each sector and product type is often different as different demographics of searchers use a different engine. There are surveying companies who do have data on who uses which for what, but they don't give much (if any) of it away.

from two site stats I have to hand
SE referers over 3 months (candsdesign.co.uk)
total 1496
Google 1204 88%
MSN 93 6%
Yahoo 57 4%
the rest don't even make 10% all together.

SE referers over 6 months (hamptonroadsc.co.uk)
total 5256
Google 2706 51%
MSN 844 16%
Yahoo 831 16%
the rest 16%

so your guess was fairly accurate.

Your initial estimates sound about right to me. Although I get the feeling that MSN is going to (if not already) gain popularity.

For overall usage that sounds about right.

However, on a site per site basis it varies greatly (by subject and demographics)

One of my sites goes like this for refering search engines:

This site features items someone that spends a lot of time at home would by. The kind of people that leave msn as their default search page

MSN 40%
Google 30%
Yahoo 20%
other 10%
