Bit of a bizzare one this and to be hones't I'm not expecting to even find the answer, but worth a shot.

I have created a Site Directory (Site), this contains the "Categories" web part which shows all columns (categories) from the default site list (sites).

Now this in itself works without a hitch however, I suddenly thought "why not have a second tab which displays some of the less important categories to make the front page less cluttered".

So I created a second web part page, created the relevant tab and once again added the web part "Categories". Then I created a custom view on the list (Sites) to show only the categories I wanted on the second tab. The setting "Source View:" within the webpart has the new view selected.

If you are with em so far, keep reading not long left till I get to the problem.

When testing I thought great this works, what a clever webpart and so easy to setup.

A few days later someone was beta testing for me and said why do the two tabs show me the same items?

i.e.
TAB 1
Category 1
Sub heading 1
Category 2
Sub heading 1

TAB 2
Category 1
Sub heading 1
Category 2
Sub heading 1

Where as tab 2 should be:

TAB 2
Category 3
Sub heading 1
Category 4
Sub heading 1

Heres the funny bit, when logged in as someone with owernship permissions on the site it works fine, but not someone with view permissions only, but If the admin i.e. Me is viewing TAB 2 the user will only see TAB 2 regardsless of which tab they click on????

It appears as if the user does not have permission to apply the view, and the webpart uses the last view that an administrator has used.

I said the problem is bizzare and to be honset not many of you will have wanted to read this to the end!!
