I am seriously considering upgrading from an antiquated phone system (AT&T Spirit) to the Norstart MICS 8x32 system with Startalk 2 VM.

I have four incoming phone lines. Can I have a seperate auto-attendant or pre-recorded greeting for each line? One line handles sales exclusively, one accepts donations to our charity, and the other two handle two other departments. I want the system to be able to give a unique message for each line, if it is busy. Will this system do that?

It's fairly important that it be able to do this, as if it doesn't I will probably have to consider another (more expensive) system. So far I like the Norstar system, so I'm hoping that this feature is supported.

Please forgive me if I am asking this question in the wrong forum. I look forward to coming here more often if/when we upgrade our phone system.--Regards

yes you can do this with the norstar and norstar flash voicemails. You have to point each line to a separate table

however i do not know how many tables will the flash 2 or 4 support. someone else may know off hand. you may want to even consider a small NAM or another voicemail product (pc based).

As for the line being busy, make sure you don't have rollover or hunting from the telco, otherwise your plan won't work. also if the actual line is busy, you won't get the message, you'll get a busy signal.

The Flash voicemail has only 2 tables, meaning you can only do this with 2 lines, or 2 Auto Attendants. The NAM voicemail sounds more like what you need, it has 4 tables. But as the last response mentioned if your lines are busy, they are busy from the phone co. and not even reach your phone system whatever it is Norstar or not.

Upgrade for sure but consider refurb Norstar at about Release 3 or 4.11 and a refurb Nam at Release 3. There are some real headaches that lurk for new NAMs and New ICS. As for the sets the only each of the M and T series have strengths and weaknesses.]

Good Luck

I don't know about all that! I haven't had a whole heck of a lot of problems with new NAMs and MICS! Besides good luck finding older software.

We ship our NAMs with the patch so our custs don't have any headaches. In any case, the NAM is what you're looking for in order to get the four tables but as mentioned numerously above... if it's busy, it's busy. You'll need more lines. MRoberts
