Hello all-
I am contemplating increasing the amount of space on our Netware 4.11 Server. Currently we have 2 Mirrored 4 gig drives at 94% capacity, and the users want more space. Are there any tools to take one of these old drives and recreate it bit for bit on a newer, larger HD? I've heard of products that will do it for MS Windows, but not for Novell. Cost is a factor, so upgrading to 6 and migrating the data is not an option.
Thanks in advance,
BKtechie

Depends on what your hardware is. What hardware are you using and what type of hard disks (apart from 4Gb ) are they? -----------------------------------------------------

The hardware is old home grown equiptment. It was here when I started a year ago and no one has any documentation on it. If its like all the rest of the systems around here, then its a PII 233, 128 or 64 MB ram, Western Digital HDs, 16x CDROM, 5 PCI slots, and 3 ISA. I'd have to stick around late one night to bring it down to provide exact info. The issue is how to copy over the Novell partition from one HD to another. Anyone ever tried mirroring HD's of different sizes? Will it work as long as the Mirror is larger than the original?
Thanks,
BKtechie

Hi, BKTechie

Just wondering - unless you are having problems with the existing drives, why not just add 2 more drives, mirror them and then allocate additional space there? Then you won't have to worry about mirroring differing geometries.

Best regards
Jock
