More RAID Questions 1

When building a new box employing IDE RAID 0, does one hook 2nd drive to primary IDE as slave or to secondary IDE as master? Will this change if RAID 1 or 5 is used?

Preferably keep them on different channels, primary master, secondary master. Same with any raid type.

Well ok then. Can you tell me about cable distance between master and slave devices on an IDE cable? I'm wondering if I lengthen the distance for the slave if that would affect performance of the devices interacting with the system board.

On all bus interfaces it is wise to maintain the shortest length as possible, and have the individual cables the same length. The length issue has to do with electrical interference and signal delays. The link has the specs for cable length, 18" max to maintain within spec.
