More Problems with W32.Swen@mm virus

Hello all. I'm having a few problems implementing Symantec's manual removal instructions for this virus found at:

I have Windows 98

I am having problems with part 3 of the Removal Instructions. I am asked to right click on my desktop, click new and then select new txt document from the menu. When I right click / new I don't have the option to create a new txt file. I don't have
Microsoft Office installed.

Any help would be superb.

I ran the tool and it did a good job of getting rid of the virus. The only problem now seems to be that I am still receiving the email messeges that brought the virus into my inbox in the first place - albeit without the virus itself. I've tried blocking the senders but ideally I want to stop them coming into my inbox alltogether because they are slowing my email retreival down to a crawl.

Any advice?

Other than blocking away, not really AFAIK. You're AV is working in that it's killing the attachments, but...I had about sixty messages sans attachments stacke dup this morning.

I know how you feel. It's the slowness that is a nightmare.
