Ok, major problem, i purchased a new router and when i put 2 computers in, i find 1 dosen't work, i do the ipconfig /renew, and get the error, unable to contact dhcp server, i know you pl seen this about a 1000 time, but i have looked at almost all of the threads on it, i did the winsoc repair things, put in my own static ip address, formated, uninstalled the nic, deleted the winsoc and winsoc2, and i am STILL, reciveing this error, i ned help greatly, iv'e been working on this for 2 day now, it is really annoying, HELP!!!!

Are you getting a link between the computers and router?

if your 2 computers are not in the same subnets be sure that they have a dhcp server running in their subnet or that the router hold an dhcp relay to join it.

bye.

all the links are made, i'll try and make them the same subnete to fix problem, dont knowif i use a static ip for that though, thanks for the help

It might also be worth checking the scope of the DHCP in the router configuration.

Good point. Not sure what type of router you have, but with a Cisco, you can set up a 'helper address' to forward your dhcp broadcasts to the other subnet. I'm sure other routers have the same ability, I just don't know what their commands would be.
