Why don't software developers include a note on their installation software indicating "YES..THIS SERVER WILL REQUIRE A REBOOT AFTER THE PRODUCT HAS INSTALLED"....I have seen so many applications where this has not been displayed until the end of the install....

its not always necessary for a given installation to reboot the server. It depends on the OS that is running.
On a unix system it only requires a reboot if the software you are installing modifies and/or rebuilds the kernel.
On a windows system it generally requires a reboot when the software installation is trying to replace a file (usually a dll) that is currently in use by the system and can only be replaced when the system is not really running.

but its still annoying.
